From my Aussie friend Jacomb, the above clip covers the aforementioned Supreme Court case on marital rape.
To my earlier list of reforms, the most obvious addition is that the electorate should demand the next Supreme Court justice be a woman.
But then I picked up this easily missed but very important soundbite at 26 sec mark: “during a rare public meeting” [italics mine].
Does that mean the Supreme Court usually meets behind closed doors? If so, then an equally fundamental reform (and arguably easier to accomplish) is to have ALL sessions of the Supreme Court be made open to public.
